As government gets bigger and more intrusive, it carries the seeds of its own destruction central banking, unsound money, and debt -- or in a word, Keynesianism. Technology, meanwhile, powered by the inexorable law of accelerating returns, is bringing to people wonders from the pages of science fiction. It is technology and the free market, not government, that will eradicate poverty, provide cheap, clean energy, and cure killer diseases, while freeing people for a longer, healthier, and more creative life.
The Fall of Tyranny the Rise of Liberty George Ford Smith 9781520446264 Books
Definitely thought-provoking, even a bit scary. Even with an IT background I found astounding that technological advances I thought to be "futuristic" are actually here or almost here. Agreed with most, but based on Assange's recent book on Google I would question some assertions that giant technology companies only serve to shake the shackles of government and their impact on free markets. All in all the book is very well written and provides an optimistic summary of where technology is leading us - which "can be" in a good way.Product details

The Fall of Tyranny the Rise of Liberty George Ford Smith 9781520446264 Books Reviews
This review is based on the version. I started reading this and wasn’t sure if I’d finish it. It almost seemed like an infomercial for Ray kurzweils’ book the singularity. I stuck with it and made several notes to refer back to.
The author makes an optimistic case for technology that is free of government control (decentralized technology, or maybe a new word coined by me, “decentech”) .
After reading this my optimistic/pessimistic meter shifted a bit closer to the optimistic side, who knows, maybe the shift will go exponential?
I tend to like hard copy books and this was only priced $5.99 but I opted for the kindle version it may be better as endnotes are hyper linked. I’m not sure how well they will work, but I will have to admit the highlighting and commenting aspect was appreciated.
Ford details many good reasons to be optimistic which, in today's climate of increasing authoritarianism in the land of the formerly free, is difficult to achieve.
The book is concise and well-sourced.
